Triads in Every Key

Here are some online flashcards I created to help you memorize the triads in every major scale. I’m assuming of course that we’ve discussed this concept a little during our lessons, but if you haven’t studied with me, or you just stumbled on this page somehow, this is what I mean:

If we take any major scale and combine the notes into three note chords called triads, we will find that three of the chords are major, three of the chords are minor, and one of the chords is diminished. (You’ll need to have studied a little bit of music theory to understand what is meant by this, so if you haven’t, don’t fret. Start by reading the entries on my music theory blog. The long and short of it is that in EVERY MAJOR SCALE, the I chord, the IV chord, and the V chord are always major, the ii chord, the iii chord, and the vi chord are always minor, and the vii chord is always diminished.  These flashcards are designed to help you memorize every chord in every key. Once you know that, when you see a chord progression written in front of you, it will be easy to determine what key you’re in.

The first set of flashcards are in order (with the keys in order via the circle of fifths,) and the second set is in random order. Have fun!
